Job summary

J.Crew Group (JCG) seeks a Senior Technical Designer to partner with Design, Production and Merchandising, driving technical strategy and end-to-end development for a major category with a focus on fit, construction, and quality.

You will lead live-model fittings, maintain technical packages, and collaborate with factory partners to ensure manufacturability and continuous improvement across the seasonal calendar.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience leading technical development for a major category independently.
• Advanced proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, and Flex PLM.
• Expert-level understanding of yarn types, gauges, stitch formations, and knit construction.
• Proven ability to manage a full seasonal calendar across multiple styles.
• Advanced knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, grading, draping, and technical sketching.
• Experience leading fittings and owning the fit approval process.
• Experience mentoring or leading junior technical designers.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and development process for Womens Knits/Sweaters from concept through bulk production.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for Design, Merchandising, and Production leadership.
• Lead live-model fit sessions and direct corrective action.
• Maintain technical packages and construction standards across categories.
• Oversee sample tracking, fittings, and approvals across the seasonal calendar.
• Lead factory partner relationships and coach vendors on capability building.
• Mentor junior designers and develop team skills.
