Job summary

Orion Innovation is seeking an experienced Technical Delivery Manager to lead data engineering and application development programs. You will drive day-to-day delivery, manage Agile ceremonies, and partner with stakeholders across architecture and engineering to ensure high-quality, timely delivery.

You will guide sprint plans, track progress in Jira, and coordinate global teams while improving delivery processes and practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• 10+ years in technology delivery with at least 4 years in delivery/program management.
• Proven experience leading Agile teams and multiple workstreams.
• Strong requirements analysis, backlog management, and sprint execution.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day delivery across data engineering, application development, APIs, analytics, and reporting.
• Manage Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives.
• Develop sprint plans, delivery schedules, risks, dependencies, and resources.
• Track tasks and user stories in Jira with clear ownership and acceptance criteria.
• Translate requirements from stakeholders into well-defined features and user stories.
• Collaborate with architects and engineering teams on solution approaches and plans.
• Monitor progress, address delays, and resolve blockers to meet commitments.
• Provide status reporting to customers and leadership; coordinate distributed teams.
• Support release planning, testing, deployment, and production readiness.
• Drive continuous improvement in delivery processes and engineering practices.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Delivery Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of data engineering and application development initiatives. This role requires a strong combination of technical expertise, delivery management, Agile execution, and customer engagement.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on in managing day-to-day sprint activities while working closely with business stakeholders, architects, engineering teams, and product owners to ensure predictable, high-quality delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day delivery across data engineering, application development, APIs, analytics, and reporting initiatives.
• Manage Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Develop and maintain sprint plans, delivery schedules, dependencies, risks, issues, and resource assignments.
• Track tasks and user stories in Jira, ensuring clear ownership, acceptance criteria, estimates, and timely completion.
• Work with customers and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into well-defined features and user stories.
• Partner with technical architects and engineering teams to validate solution approaches, estimates, and implementation plans.
• Monitor delivery progress, identify potential delays, and drive timely resolution of technical and functional blockers.
• Ensure teams meet commitments related to scope, schedule, quality, and performance.
• Provide clear and concise status reporting to customer and internal leadership.
• Coordinate across geographically distributed and cross-functional teams.
• Support release planning, testing, deployment, and production-readiness activities.
• Drive continuous improvement in delivery processes, engineering practices, and team productivity.

Required Technical Experience

• Strong understanding of data engineering concepts, including data ingestion, transformation, integration, data pipelines, and analytics.
• Working knowledge of:

  • Jira and Agile delivery tools
• Ability to understand solution architecture, technical designs, data flows, integration patterns, and non-functional requirements.
• Experience managing cloud-based data and application development programs.
• Ability to engage in technical discussions, challenge assumptions, identify risks, and facilitate decisions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in technology delivery, with at least 4 years in a technical delivery or program management role.
• Demonstrated experience leading Agile teams and managing multiple concurrent workstreams.
• Strong experience in requirements analysis, backlog management, user-story development, estimation, and sprint execution.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer-management and stakeholder-engagement capabilities.
• Proven ability to manage priorities, dependencies, risks, and escalations in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with globally distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Databricks or Microsoft Azure certifications.
• Experience delivering enterprise data platforms, analytics solutions, or cloud-modernization programs.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, automated testing, security, and production support.
• Experience working in consulting or customer-facing delivery environments.
