Job summary

JR Automation Technologies, LLC seeks a Machine & Fabrication Technical Buyer to join our Nashville, TN or Holland, MI team. This role requires deep manufacturing and fabrication knowledge to guide sourcing decisions and mentor others on manufacturing solutions for complex automation projects.

You’ll evaluate suppliers, assist with make vs. buy decisions, and collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to ensure alignment with design and production needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required; manufacturing or fabrication experience highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of machining and fabrication processes.
• Minimum of 3+ years in manufacturing, fabrication, or project-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical SME in machining and fabrication, guiding part design and manufacturing methods.
• Evaluate and improve supplier base for capabilities, capacity, quality, and alignment with needs.
• Assist with make vs. buy decisions using internal capabilities and external suppliers.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align timelines, supplier constraints, and technical requirements.
• Work with BOMs to source components in line with supply chain strategy and project needs.
• Support material expediting by identifying root causes and working with suppliers and internal teams.
