Job summary

JR Automation Technologies, LLC in Holland, MI is seeking a Buyer to manage end-to-end procurement for complex automation projects. You will source materials, negotiate terms, and ensure on-time delivery to support project schedules from kickoff through installation.

Ideal candidates bring manufacturing/automation procurement experience, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to read drawings and BOMs. A technical background and ERP/MRP proficiency are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• Experience procuring for automation/manufacturing projects.
• Ability to read mechanical/controls drawings and BOMs.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end project procurement from kickoff through FAT, shipment, and installation.
• Lead RFQs/RFPs for complex automation components including robotics, mechatronics assemblies, conveyors, packaging systems, and controls hardware.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms for low-volume, high-mix engineered components and custom assemblies.
• Read and interpret drawings, BOMs, and specifications to ensure accurate procurement.
• Monitor suppliers’ lead times, capacity, and delivery performance; adjust schedules to meet milestones.
• Partner with Project Management to track budgets and forecast procurement spend.
• Support Strategic Sourcing in evaluating supplier performance across quality, delivery, and capability metrics.
• Drive cost-reduction initiatives through alternative sourcing and value-engineering efforts.
• Support inventory strategy and material availability for standard components.
