Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience as Technical Business Analyst or similar role.
• Strong requirements gathering and communication with both business and technical teams.
• Hands-on with enterprise apps, especially Microsoft-based systems and SaaS platforms.
• Understanding of system integrations, data flows, and backend workflows.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business stakeholders, developers, and technical teams to gather, document, and translate business needs into functional and technical requirements.
• Support and enhance enterprise applications, including Microsoft technologies and cloud-based SaaS platforms.
• Analyze existing workflows, backend processes, and system integrations to identify opportunities for improvement and automation.
• Work closely with developers and external technology partners to implement new functionality, integrations, and system enhancements.
• Troubleshoot application issues, investigate root causes, and coordinate technical resolutions.
• Help manage application changes, including requirements, testing, documentation, and implementation support.
• Develop an understanding of how different business applications exchange data and support day-to-day operations.
• Take ownership of assigned initiatives and drive them forward with minimal oversight.

Our client is an established, growing organization based in Chicago that is continuing to invest in its technology environment, business applications, and internal systems.

They are looking for a Technical Business Systems Analyst II who can bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys understanding how applications work behind the scenes, connecting systems, improving workflows, and working closely with developers to deliver solutions.

The ideal candidate is more technical than a traditional Business Analyst. You'll be working across multiple enterprise applications, helping improve how systems communicate, identifying opportunities for automation, and taking ownership of technical requirements from discovery through implementation.

What You'll Do

• Partner with business stakeholders, developers, and technical teams to gather, document, and translate business needs into functional and technical requirements.

What They're Looking For

• Experience as a Technical Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Application Analyst, or similar role.
• Strong requirements-gathering skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both business stakeholders and technical teams.
• Hands-on experience supporting or implementing enterprise applications, particularly Microsoft-based systems and SaaS platforms.
• Understanding of system integrations, APIs, data flows, and backend application workflows.
• Ability to work directly with developers to define requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver technical solutions.
• Experience with process improvement, workflow automation, or application enhancements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn new technologies.
• Someone who is independent, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of their work.

Nice to Have

• Experience with document management systems or enterprise content management platforms.
• Exposure to Microsoft Entra ID or related Microsoft technologies.
• Experience working with multiple SaaS applications and third-party integrations.
• A background in technical support, application support, or help desk before transitioning into business systems analysis.
• Experience working with external software vendors or implementation partners.

This is a full-time, hybrid opportunity based in Chicago, with regular in-office collaboration and some flexibility to work remotely.
