Freemen Nutra is a global supplier of nutritional and functional ingredients. For three decades we have sourced raw materials at scale for manufacturers and brands across the dietary supplement, functional beverage, sports nutrition and pet nutrition markets, and built a reputation for delivering on specification and on time.
We are expanding our custom blends and ingredient solutions business, and we are hiring two Technical Business Development Manager to lead that growth in the field.
The role
Our customers increasingly want fewer suppliers and less complexity. Rather than sourcing a dozen ingredients from as many vendors and managing the freight, documentation and incoming testing that comes with each one, they want a single technically capable partner who can deliver a finished custom blend ready for their process.
This role leads those conversations. You will work with formulators, procurement leaders, quality teams and contract manufacturers to understand what they are building, define the right blend specification, guide it through qualification, and convert it into long-term supply agreements.
The cycles are technical and consultative — they are won by someone who can hold a credible conversation about specifications, flow properties, allergen controls and quality documentation, not by someone quoting a price.
What you will do
- Develop custom blend opportunities within an assigned territory, working primarily with customers who already buy ingredients from us as well as pursuing new accounts.
- Lead technical discovery — understand the customer's formulation, process and packaging requirements and translate them into a workable blend specification.
- Manage the qualification process end to end: specification, sampling, pilot production, quality documentation, customer audits and commercial agreement.
- Build and maintain relationships with contract manufacturers and co-packers in your region.
- Negotiate multi-year supply agreements and manage pricing with discipline.
- Partner closely with our internal coordination, quality and sourcing teams so that customers experience a single, responsive point of contact.
- Support colleagues across the wider commercial team on custom blend opportunities within your territory.
- Maintain accurate opportunity records and forecasting.
What we are looking for
Required
- Five or more years in technical sales, account management or business development within ingredients, custom blending, or contract manufacturing, serving the supplement, beverage, food or pet nutrition industries.
- Strong technical fluency — you are comfortable discussing specifications, certificates of analysis, allergen controls, blend uniformity and good manufacturing practice requirements directly with a customer's technical team.
- Proven success with longer, consultative sales cycles and multi-step qualification processes.
- Experience negotiating and closing supply agreements rather than transactional orders.
- Excellent organisational skills and the self-direction to run a territory independently.
- Willingness to travel regularly within the territory.
Preferred
- Established relationships with contract manufacturers or co-packers in the region.
- Familiarity with third-party certification and audit standards such as NSF, SQF or cGMP.
- A degree in food science, chemistry, nutrition or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience supporting fast-growing consumer brands as they scale their supply chains.
What we offer
- Competitive base salary plus a commission plan that rewards new business development and long-term customer agreements.
- Health, dental and vision coverage; retirement plan; paid time off.
- The backing of an established global sourcing network with thirty years of supplier relationships behind it.
- A genuine build opportunity — this is an early commercial role in a growing part of our business, with real influence over how it develops and clear scope for advancement as it grows.
