Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Technical Business Developer in Reading, MA to lead end-to-end procurement of capital equipment, automation systems, tooling, and infrastructure. You will own RFQ/RFP processes, total cost of ownership analyses, and negotiate terms with OEMs and vendors.

You will mentor sourcing managers, design scalable procurement frameworks, and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery and cost optimization while aligning with business goals.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of business development, partnership management, or sourcing experience.
  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements.
  • Experience managing CAPEX procurement programs and vendor portfolios.
  • Experience leading contract negotiations with OEMs, equipment manufacturers, or construction contractors for high-value agreements.
  • Experience developing sourcing strategies, procurement frameworks, or standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end capital equipment sourcing across multiple product portfolios, including supplier identification, market analysis, RFQ/RFP execution, total cost of ownership modeling, and award decisions across equipment, automation systems, tooling, and infrastructure.
  • Structure commercial agreements covering pricing, payment terms, warranties, SLAs, and long-lead-time components; manage full contract lifecycle including amendments, renewals, and dispute resolution.
  • Develop sourcing frameworks, standard operating procedures, and operating mechanisms that scale with the organization; mentor sourcing managers and buyers.
  • Establish and manage supplier performance programs, including scorecards, SLAs, and regular business reviews; mitigate supply chain risks with dual-sourcing and contingency planning.
  • Coordinate budgets with cost controls, variance tracking, and change governance; support material planning, inventory strategy, and spare parts availability.
  • Align equipment procurement timelines with site milestones; serve as procurement SME in cross-functional planning forums; influence leadership on strategic direction and investment.

As a Technical Business Developer, you will serve as a key individual contributor and subject matter expert for capital equipment sourcing, contract negotiations, and supplier management. You will own the end-to-end procurement lifecycle - from supplier identification and RFQ execution through contract award and delivery - for high-value equipment, automation systems, tooling, and more. You will partner closely with partner teams across the organization to ensure material readiness and targets are met. You will help establish standards for how procurement operates and contribute to the development of sourcing managers and buyers through thought leadership and process design.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end capital equipment sourcing across multiple advanced product portfolios, including supplier identification, market analysis, RFQ/RFP execution, total cost of ownership modeling, and award decisions across equipment, automation systems, tooling, and infrastructure. Develop and implement sourcing approaches that optimize cost efficiency while advancing technical capabilities.
  • Work complex negotiations with OEMs, equipment manufacturers, and service providers - structuring commercial agreements covering pricing, payment terms, warranties, SLAs, and long-lead-time components, and managing the full contract lifecycle including amendments, renewals, and dispute resolution.
  • Develop sourcing frameworks, standard operating procedures, and operating mechanisms that scale with the organization - supporting and mentoring sourcing managers and buyers through technical guidance.
  • Establish and manage supplier performance programs, including scorecards, SLAs, and regular business reviews. Identify and mitigate supply chain risks through dual-sourcing strategies, should-cost models, and contingency planning.

Basic Qualifications
  • 1+ years of business development, partnership management, or sourcing new business experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Experience managing CAPEX procurement programs and vendor portfolios for complex environments, including equipment, automation, and tooling
  • Experience leading contract negotiations with OEMs, equipment manufacturers, or construction contractors for agreements of significant value
  • Experience developing sourcing strategies, procurement frameworks, or standard operating procedures
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in online advertising or high-tech products/services
