Job description

Technical Architect Azure Data (L3/L4) – HCL Cloud CoE (Practice) team is looking for an experienced customer‑focused Azure Data Architect with strong technical depth and architecture skills. In this role you will work closely with pre‑sales, business units and engineering on HCL’s largest and most strategic customer engagements to identify, define, and architect solutions on Azure.

Specifically, you will be part of a customer‑engaged team of technical project managers and engineers responsible for implementing new landing zones and executing POCs and pilot migration projects.

• Experience: 8–12 years in a consulting or architecture position with a software and/or services company

Responsibilities

• Understand the customer’s IT estate, LOB applications, IT and business priorities, and success measures to design implementation architectures and cloud‑native solutions.
• Collaborate with network, security, AD, backup, tools and application architects and SMEs to develop enterprise‑grade solutions.
• Develop deep relationships with key customer IT decision-makers.
• Define long‑term cloud strategy and mentor operations teams to implement the solutions.
• Keep up to date with market trends and competitive insights, and maintain technical skills and knowledge.
• Advocate new features and solutions to bring operational efficiency and cost reduction.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert on Microsoft Azure and assist sales/pre‑sales in RFP activities.
• Prepare and implement a program management plan to deliver the right scope and deliverables for all projects/programs within the agreed timelines mentioned in the signed contract in compliance with HCL Global Project Management Framework.
• Ensure tracking and adherence to budget allocated to all transition/transformation projects, including all one‑time projects where a SOW is created.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of cloud computing concepts, especially in relation to Azure services such as Data Lake Storage, Databricks, Data Factory, and more.
• Proficiency in database design, data warehousing, data lakes, and data governance practices.
• Strong understanding of relational and non‑relational databases (SQL/NoSQL).
• Expertise in building data pipelines using tools such as Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Hands‑on experience with ETL processes, data integration techniques, and ensuring data quality.
• Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments, such as encryption, identity management and access control.
• Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA and SOC2.
• Able to ensure that data solutions are cost‑effective and perform efficiently by monitoring system performance, identifying bottlenecks and making adjustments as needed.
• Experience with PaaS services including Logic Apps, Function Apps, App Service, Key Vault and containers is preferred.
• Extensive experience conducting design workshops and documenting HLD (High Level Design) documents.
• Proven track record of building deep technical relationships with senior IT executives and growing data services in large, strategic accounts.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
• Proven ability to drive decisions collaboratively, resolve conflicts and ensure follow‑through.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Presentation skills with comfort in addressing both large and small audiences (senior executives, IT management and developers).
