Job summary

NXT seeks a Technical Architect to lead design and implementation of large, complex systems for government and enterprise clients. You’ll drive architectural decisions, oversee middleware, web servers, CMS, and integration efforts across on‑prem and cloud platforms.

Hybrid role based in Baltimore, MD with remote work options. Requires 10+ years in IT architecture, strong communication, and a track record of delivering major IT applications initiatives in healthcare/public sector environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, CS, Math or related technical field; Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years designing, building, and implementing IT application systems.
• Experience designing medium to large-scale sites and managing multiple Internet projects.
• Led or served as chief architect in major IT implementations.
• Strong background in software engineering principles and techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and business acumen.
• Ability to present findings to management and explain technical choices.
• Excellent multitasking and milestone management.
• Healthcare and public sector experience.

Technical Architect

We are seeking a Technical Architect to manage major projects that involve providing professional support services and/or the integration, implementation and transition of large, complex systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides design and development of e-government solutions and is responsible for technical design and implementation of the architecture.
• Designs, develops and maintains infrastructure and backend applications.
• Provides expertise on defining the role of broadband and wireless applications.
• Provides definition of current state architecture blueprints.
• Provides expertise with web servers, gateways, and application servers and content management systems.
• Provides experience in web application technologies and middleware solutions.
• Research new technologies and products for their applicability to business processes.
• Must be able to compare various solutions and determine the most suitable.
• Ensures that development efforts are well planned and in agreement with standards.

Must Haves – Required Education, Certifications, Skills, and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other related scientific or technical discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience planning, designing, building, and implementing IT application systems.
• At least six (6) years of experience in designing medium to large-scale sites and management of at least five Internet projects.
• Must have led or been chief architect in a major IT applications implementation effort.
• Must have a strong background in software engineering principles and techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as business acumen.
• Ability to compile and organize information and present findings to management.
• Confidence in decision making and the ability to explain technical processes or choices as needed.
• Excellent multitasking skills and task management.
• Ability to complete milestones and work toward multiple deadlines simultaneously.
• Outstanding problem solver.
• Healthcare and public sector environment experience
