Job summary

Interclypse is seeking a Senior Application Architect to lead major IT projects, shaping the architecture for e-government solutions and managing the integration of large systems. The role focuses on technical design, infrastructure, and standards compliance within a growth-minded Maryland team.

Ideal candidates have a strong software engineering background, 10+ years of experience, and prior chief-architect exposure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related discipline. Master’s preferred.
  • 10 years of experience planning, designing, building, and implementing IT application systems
  • Led or been chief architect in a major IT applications implementation effort
  • Strong background in software engineering principles and techniques
  • 6 years of experience designing medium to large-scale sites and managing at least five Internet projects

Responsibilities

  • Provide design and development of e-government solutions with technical architecture responsibility
  • Design, develop, and maintain infrastructure and backend applications
  • Provide expertise on broadband and wireless applications roles
  • Define current State architecture blueprints
  • Expertise with web servers, gateways, application servers, and content management systems
  • Experience with web application technologies and middleware solutions
  • Research new technologies and products for applicability to business processes
  • Compare various solutions and determine the most suitable option
  • Ensure development efforts are well-planned and compliant with standards

Interclypse is supporting several Maryland state agencies in the modernization and sustainment of critical systems. All positions are required to be onsite at various locations in Maryland.

Responsibilities

The Application Architect (Senior) manages major projects that involve providing professional support services and/or the integration, implementation, and transition of large, complex systems. This individual is responsible for performing the following tasks:

  • A. Providing design and development of e-government solutions, and taking responsibility for technical design and implementation of the architecture;
  • B. Designing, developing, and maintaining infrastructure and backend applications;
  • C. Providing expertise on defining the role of broadband and wireless applications;
  • D. Providing definition of current State architecture blueprints;
  • E. Providing expertise with web servers, gateways, application servers, and content management systems;
  • F. Providing experience in web application technologies and middleware solutions;
  • G. Researching new technologies and products for their applicability to business processes;
  • H. Comparing various solutions and determining the most suitable; and
  • I. Ensuring that development efforts are well‑planned and in compliance to standards.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related scientific or technical discipline. (Note: A Master’s degree is preferred.)
  • Ten (10) years of experience planning, designing, building, and implementing IT application systems
  • Must have led or been chief architect in a major IT applications implementation effort
  • Must also have a strong background in software engineering principles and techniques
  • Six (6) years of experience in designing medium to large‑scale sites, and management of at least five Internet projects
