Job Summary and Description

The Technical Advisor III (TA III) role is a key leadership position focused on account management and delivery of technical resources. The TAIII reports to the Senior Manager of M&TS and is responsible for technology transfer, building strong relationships at all client levels, and promoting EPRI’s capabilities to enhance revenue growth and broaden client engagement. The TAIII brings deep technical expertise in the assigned R&D sector and represents EPRI at technical level equivalent to program managers, providing support and mentorship to the sector sales team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish strong relationships at all appropriate decision‑making levels within assigned accounts.
  • Make general as well as specific sales calls and presentations to broaden client engagement.
  • Understand the client’s strategic issues, business objectives, unique needs and processes to drive revenue growth.
  • Proactively identify existing EPRI products and solutions that can be positioned to meet and exceed client needs.
  • Manage the client engagement process through the close of sales and coordinate appropriate internal cross‑functional support as needed.
  • Possess deep technical knowledge of the sector R&D portfolio with the ability to represent a strong value proposition to clients of all technical programs, projects, and products.
  • Provide technical support and training as needed by other members of the sector sales team.
  • Take an active role in developing, scoping and launching key supplemental projects.
  • Capture client, market and product feedback to help support and influence future EPRI product development.
  • Work with program managers and marketing staff to shape the R&D portfolio each year.
  • Proactively capture and communicate value to document impacts and benefits to assigned clients on a regular basis throughout the year.
  • Work closely with technical staff and build relationships with appropriate internal stakeholders.
  • Adept at tracking and managing opportunity funnel in client relationship management (CRM) tool.
  • Identify, develop and cultivate relationships with client end users to facilitate effective technology transfer.
  • Support end users in implementing/appling relevant EPRI results.
  • Collaborate across other EPRI R&D sector programs and cross‑sell relevant research.
  • Actively promote implementation and broad acceptance of EPRI’s tools and results across the client organization.
  • Assist in conducting member satisfaction surveys, analyze and summarize key feedback, and provide recommendations for improving member experience.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required in a technical discipline; engineering degree preferred.
  • Advanced degree, professional engineering license, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Desired fifteen years of electric utility or similar industry experience, with a minimum of seven years selling complex technical solutions.
  • Solid understanding of account management and sales practices/principles, able to drive the sales process from needs assessment to close.
  • Ability to engage effectively at all levels within client organizations.
  • Broad understanding of the energy industry and specific expertise in the assigned sector.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in the assigned sector.
  • Effective presentation development and delivery skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including the full Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willing to travel approximately 50% of the time.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $145,000 USD to $165,000 USD annually. This range may vary based on education, experience, skills, internal equity, and market data. The position is eligible to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program and standard employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), STD/LTD, paid family leave, life and accident insurance, and paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).
