Job summary

Versant Media, headquartered in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, seeks a Manager, Technical Accounting & Policy to lead the company’s accounting policy development and ensure proper treatment of complex transactions under U.S. GAAP and SOX.

The role partners with Controllership, FP&A, Legal and External Reporting, supporting new standards implementation and acting as a subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders. Hybrid work arrangement in Englewood Cliffs, NJ.

Qualifications

• CPA required; degree in Accounting/Finance.
• 4+ years in financial accounting, audit, or policy roles.
• Experience in a publicly traded company or Big 4 preferred.
• Understanding of SEC reporting, U.S. GAAP, and SOX compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting analysis and documentation for complex and non-recurring transactions (business combinations, divestitures, leases, impairments, restructurings).
• Prepare and maintain technical accounting memos supporting management conclusions with external auditors.
• Provide technical guidance to Controllership, FP&A, and finance teams on accounting issues.
• Act as SME for revenue recognition, leases, equity, and long-lived assets.
• Monitor emerging accounting pronouncements and coordinate implementation readiness.
• Assist with SOX control documentation and audit readiness for key estimates.
• Develop training materials to educate control owners on SOX expectations.
• Coordinate with VP and external auditors on comments and audit deliverables.
