Cengage Group is seeking an experienced technical accounting professional to drive GAAP research, financial reporting, and SEC matters from our Nashville area team. You will prepare detailed memos, analyses, and presentations while collaborating across departments to resolve complex accounting issues.

The role supports financial statements, disclosures, and audit readiness, with internal controls and SOX compliance as ongoing priorities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
CPA preferred.
6+ years of growing responsibilities and related experience; public accounting experience is a plus.
Careful attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to thrive in a multi-priority, fast-paced environment and successfully implement change.
Strong communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

Research and advise on technical accounting topics, including GAAP, financial reporting, and SEC matters.
Prepare comprehensive technical memos, analyses, and presentations.
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex accounting issues.
Assist with the preparation of financial statements, disclosures, and audit readiness.
Operate as backup support for the financial reporting team.
Support internal controls and SOX compliance initiatives.
Facilitate coordination with internal and external counsel, as well as external auditors.
