Job summary

Cengage Group, a global edtech company, is seeking an experienced accounting professional to research and advise on GAAP, financial reporting, and SEC matters. You will prepare technical memos, collaborate across teams, and help with financial statements, disclosures, and audit readiness.

Role includes backup for the financial reporting team, participation in internal controls, and coordination with auditors. A CPA is preferred and 6+ years of progressive experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; CPA preferred.
• 6+ years of growing responsibilities; public accounting experience a plus.
• Careful attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to thrive in a multi-priority, fast-paced environment and implement change.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with Workiva is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Research and advise on technical accounting topics, including GAAP, financial reporting, and SEC matters.
• Prepare comprehensive technical memos, analyses, and presentations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex accounting issues.
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements, disclosures, and audit readiness.
• Operate as backup support for the financial reporting team.
• Support internal controls and SOX compliance initiatives.
• Facilitate coordination with internal and external counsel, as well as external auditors.
