Northrop Grumman in McLean, Virginia seeks a Technical Accounting Manager 3 to lead GAAP research, advise on complex transactions, and update policies. The role reports to the Director of Financial Planning and Reporting and requires on-site work with occasional travel.

Candidates should have a bachelor's in accounting with 9+ years of experience (or a master’s with 7+), CPA license preferred, and the ability to coordinate with external auditors. DoD secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline with a minimum of 9 years of accounting experience.
• Master’s degree in accounting or related discipline with a minimum of 7 years of accounting experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide on call technical accounting guidance.
• Research and analyze application of accounting standards to complex business transactions.
• Draft white papers summarizing technical accounting issues, application of accounting guidance to the company, alternatives available and recommendations.
• Coordinate research findings and evaluation of alternatives with external auditors.
• Prepare presentations of accounting treatment with recommendations and present to senior finance management.
• Update Sector accounting policies for new accounting pronouncements and other changes.
• Prepare and present accounting and policy training on an as-needed basis.
• Review revenue recognition checklists and provide guidance on ASC606.

The selected candidate will become a part of our Sector Headquarters Financial Reporting team.This position will report to the Director of Financial Planning and Reporting and perform technical Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) accounting research and other financial analysis as required. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
