Responsibilities

• Provide on-call technical accounting guidance.
• Research and analyze application of accounting standards to complex business transactions.
• Draft white papers summarizing technical accounting issues, applications, alternatives and recommendations.
• Coordinate findings with external auditors and present to senior finance management.
• Update sector accounting policies for new pronouncements and changes.
• Present accounting and policy training as needed.
• Review revenue recognition checklists under ASC606 and advise on treatment.
• Oversee SOX function for the sector.

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector is currently seeking a Technical Accounting Manager 2 to join our growing team of diverse professionals in McLean, Virginia. The selected candidate will become a part of our Sector Headquarters Financial Reporting team.

This position will report to the Director of Financial Planning and Reporting and perform technical Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) accounting research and other financial analysis as required. This high impact and high visibility role will work closely with the Sector’s division business management and Sector leadership team.

Responsibilities

• Provide on call technical accounting guidance.
• Research and analyze application of accounting standards to complex business transactions.
• Draft white papers summarizing technical accounting issues, application of accounting guidance to the company, alternatives available and recommendations.
• Coordinate research findings and evaluation of alternatives with external auditors.
• Prepare presentations of accounting treatment with recommendations and present to senior finance management.
• Update Sector accounting policies for new accounting pronouncements and other changes.
• Prepare and present accounting and policy training on an as-needed basis.
• Perform miscellaneous financial analysis as required.
• Review revenue recognition checklists, conclude on treatment and provide guidance on revenue accounting under ASC606.
• Review estimates at completion (EAC)
• Oversees sector Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) function

Job Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Must have one of the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline with a minimum of 7 years of accounting experience
  • Master’s degree in accounting or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
• Must be able to work on-site in McLean, Virginia
• Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time)
• CPA License
• Recent Big 4 or recognized public accounting firm audit experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong GAAP accounting proficiency and research experience
• Good executive presence with excellent communication skills
• Self-motivated, yet functions well in a team environment
• Prior experience in Aerospace and/or Defense industry

Primary Level Salary Range: $133,100.00 - $199,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
