Job summary

Vets Hired is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to serve as the organization’s subject matter expert on accounting matters, interpreting U.S. GAAP and IFRS standards and applying them to complex transactions.

The role involves developing accounting policies, preparing technical documentation, supporting financial reporting, and collaborating with auditors and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, compliant reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
  • 6-10 years of progressive accounting experience with strong technical accounting expertise.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and IFRS.
  • Experience supporting external audits and financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, research, written communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Research and interpret U.S. GAAP, IFRS, SEC, and other accounting standards.
  • Analyze complex accounting transactions and determine appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Prepare technical accounting white papers, policy memos, and guidance documents.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the primary technical accounting advisor for finance and business teams.
  • Provide accounting guidance on business transactions, contracts, restructurings, and regulatory changes.
  • Support external audits by preparing technical documentation and defending accounting positions.
  • Review and prepare financial statement disclosures and accounting policy notes.
  • Ensure consistency between accounting policies and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Operations, and other departments.
  • Deliver technical accounting training and guidance to finance team members.
  • Monitor new accounting standards and assess their impact on the organization.
