Job summary

Crusoe Energy Systems seeks a highly skilled Manager, Technical Accounting to lead accounting research, oversee financial reporting, and formulate company-wide accounting policies.

As Crusoe scales with complex financings, partnerships, and international operations, this role acts as the accounting SME, ensuring US GAAP compliance, accurate MD&A disclosures, and collaboration with external auditors across the organization.

Qualifications

• Licensed CPA with deep technical expertise in US GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX.
• Strong research and writing skills; ability to translate complex concepts for non-financial stakeholders.
• Six+ years of total accounting and audit experience.
• Industry experience in energy, infrastructure, or data centers.
• Experience leading implementation of major accounting standards (e.g., ASC 842, ASC 606).
• Experience drafting MD&A or SEC narrative disclosures.
• Experience at a large public accounting firm or large corporate filer.

Responsibilities

• Lead research and evaluation of complex transactions (debt/equity, consolidation, lease accounting, revenue recognition).
• Prepare clear technical accounting memoranda and present conclusions to leadership.
• Prepare and review SEC financial statements and footnotes.
• Author MD&A to explain financial results and trends.
• Formulate global accounting policies and drive policy implementation.
• Monitor new pronouncements and drive adoption across the organization.
• Coordinate with external auditors on accounting positions and audits.

Job description

• Crusoe is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Technical Accounting to lead our technical accounting research, provide financial reporting oversight, and formulate and implement company-wide accounting policies
• As Crusoe scales and takes on increasingly complex financings, partnerships, and international operations, this role is the Company’s subject matter expert on how those transactions are accounted for — analyzing new and unique deals for appropriate treatment and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations
• In this role, you will contribute to the preparation and review of the Company’s external quarterly and annual financial statements, author the MD&A, drive the adoption of new accounting standards, and act as a strategic partner to internal business units and the primary liaison for external auditors on complex accounting positions
• The ideal candidate is a licensed CPA with deep technical expertise, strong research and writing skills, and the ability to translate complex accounting concepts for non-financial stakeholders
• Complex Transaction Analysis — Lead the research and evaluation of complex transactions, including debt/equity transactions, consolidation, lease accounting, revenue recognition, and other topics
• Technical Documentation & Leadership Communication — Prepare clear, comprehensive technical accounting memoranda documenting the Company’s conclusions and compliance under US GAAP, and present the related accounting considerations to leadership
• SEC Financial Statements & Footnotes — Prepare and review aspects of the Company’s quarterly financial statements and footnotes in compliance with SEC reporting requirements
• MD&A Authorship — Author the Management’s Discussion and Analysis section to ensure clear, accurate narratives of financial results and trends
• Global Accounting Policy — Formulate global accounting policies and assist with the implementation of those policies across the organization
• New Standards Adoption — Monitor, analyze, and interpret new accounting pronouncements from the FASB, SEC, and other regulatory bodies to assess their impact on financial reporting, and drive the planning and implementation of new standards
• External Audit Partnership — Coordinate and engage with external auditors on the review of technical accounting positions, consolidated financial statements, and new accounting standards
• Internal Control Environment — Support the maintenance of a strong internal control environment (SOX compliance) over technical accounting and financial reporting processes
