Job summary

Cengage Group is seeking a seasoned technical accounting professional to research and advise on GAAP, financial reporting, and SEC matters. You will prepare memos, analyses, and presentations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex accounting issues.

Responsibilities include assisting with financial statements, disclosures, audit readiness, and SOX controls, while serving as backup support for the financial reporting team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
• 6+ years of growing responsibilities and related experience; public accounting is a plus.
• Careful attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to thrive in a multi-priority, fast-paced environment and successfully implement change.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with Workiva is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Research and advise on technical accounting topics, including GAAP, financial reporting, and SEC matters.
• Prepare comprehensive technical memos, analyses, and presentations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex accounting issues.
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements, disclosures, and audit readiness.
• Operate as backup support for the financial reporting team.
• Support internal controls and SOX compliance initiatives.
• Facilitate coordination with internal and external counsel, as well as external auditors.
