Job summary

Cengage Group in the United States is seeking a Senior Technical Accountant to research and advise on GAAP, financial reporting, and SEC matters, and to prepare technical memos and presentations. You will collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex accounting issues and assist with the preparation of financial statements and disclosures.

The role also supports SOX compliance, provides backup to the financial reporting team, and coordinates with auditors.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; CPA preferred.
6+ years with increasing responsibilities; public accounting a plus.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to thrive in multi-priority, fast-paced environment and implement change.
Strong communication and analytical skills.
Familiarity with Workiva is an advantage.

Responsibilities

Research and advise on technical accounting topics, including GAAP, financial reporting, and SEC matters.
Prepare comprehensive technical memos, analyses, and presentations.
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex accounting issues.
Assist with the preparation of financial statements, disclosures, and audit readiness.
Operate as backup support for the financial reporting team.
Support internal controls and SOX compliance initiatives.
Facilitate coordination with internal and external counsel, as well as external auditors.
