About The Job

Red Hat's North American Public Sector Services team is looking for an enterprise-level engineer with a background in Platform-as-a-Service and container technologies to join us remotely in the U.S Eastern or Central Time Zone. In this role, you will partner closely with public sector customers to provide architectural guidance and implementation advice for the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform suite of solutions. This is not a sales role. You'll be a dedicated customer engagement associate and a member of the Red Hat engineering and technical support teams. As a Technical Account Manager, you will provide a level of premium support that builds, maintains, and grows long-lasting customer loyalty by tailoring support for our customer's environments, facilitating collaboration with their other vendors, and advocating on their behalf.

Applicants with the U.S. Eastern Time or Central Time Zones are preferred and U.S. citizenship is required to fulfill a government contract.

What You Will Do

1. Support enterprise customers in implementing automated and containerized cloud application platform solutions
2. Learn new technologies quickly, including topics like container orchestration, container registries, container build strategies, and microservices on container platforms
3. Perform technical reviews and share knowledge to proactively identify and prevent issues
4. Gain understanding of customer technical infrastructures and environments, hardware, and offerings
5. Collaborate with internal engineering, development, product management, and technical support teams to resolve issues
6. Manage customer cases and maintain clear and concise case and customer documentation; craft customer engagement plans
7. Build trust with customers and serve as their advocate within Red Hat; analyze and present periodic reviews of operational performance to customer leadership
8. Manage and grow customer relationships by delivering attentive, relationship-based support
9. Provide hands-on keyboard support as needed
10. Travel as needed to visit customers

What You Will Bring

1. Must be a U.S. citizen to fulfill government contract
2. A strong combination of technical and customer-facing skills and a willingness to embrace and further develop both
3. Knowledge of Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) cloud solutions like Red Hat OpenShift
4. Experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes container cluster manager
5. Experience with cloud management, like Red Hat Cloud Suite, and IT automation, including Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform
6. Competent comprehension of enterprise architecture and strategic business drivers
7. Direct experience with a variety of hardware vendors
8. Ability to manage multiple issues and projects with shifting priorities and timelines
9. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex information to customers clearly and concisely
10. Comprehension of continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) concepts
11. Familiarity with source code management tools like Git or SVN
12. Software engineering background is a plus; experience with RPM-based Linux and Java technologies
13. Willingness to provide after hours coverage, including on-call duty
14. Ability to make occasional on-site customer visits

The following are considered a plus:

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technology-related discipline, ideally computer science or engineering
2. U.S. security clearance
3. Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification
4. Experience working in DevOps environments
5. Experience deploying applications in cloud environments and developing containerized applications
6. Experience with cloud computing and different cloud providers like Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Compute Platform, or IBM Cloud
7. Experience with Red Hat technologies like Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Satellite, OpenShift Container Platform, OpenStack, Ansible Automation Platform, etc.

Salary and Pay Transparency

The salary range for this position is $94,550.00 - $151,170.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications. Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
