Technical Account Manager - OpenShift Container Platform

About The Job

Red Hat's North American Public Sector Services team is seeking an enterprise engineer with expertise in Platform-as-a-Service and container technologies to work remotely in the U.S. Eastern or Central Time Zone. You will collaborate with public sector clients to provide architectural guidance and implementation support for Red Hat OpenShift solutions. This is a non-sales role focused on customer engagement, part of the Red Hat engineering and technical support teams. Your goal is to foster customer loyalty through tailored support, collaboration, and advocacy.

Responsibilities
  • Support enterprise clients in deploying automated and containerized cloud applications
  • Quickly learn new technologies, including container orchestration, registries, build strategies, and microservices
  • Conduct technical reviews and share knowledge to prevent issues
  • Understand customer infrastructures, hardware, and environments
  • Collaborate with engineering, development, product management, and support teams
  • Manage customer cases, maintain documentation, and develop engagement plans
  • Build trust and act as customer advocate; present operational reviews
  • Manage and expand customer relationships with attentive support
  • Travel as needed for customer visits
Qualifications
  • U.S. citizenship is required for government contracts
  • Strong technical and customer-facing skills
  • Knowledge of PaaS solutions like Red Hat OpenShift
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud management (e.g., Red Hat Cloud Suite), and automation (e.g., Ansible)
  • Understanding of enterprise architecture and business drivers
  • Experience with hardware vendors
  • Ability to handle multiple issues and projects
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of CI/CD, source control tools like Git or SVN
  • Optional: Software engineering background, experience with RPM Linux and Java
  • Willingness to provide after-hours support and occasional on-site visits
Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • U.S. security clearance
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • Experience in DevOps, cloud deployment, and containerized applications
  • Familiarity with multiple cloud providers
  • Experience with Red Hat technologies like RHEL, Satellite, OpenShift, OpenStack, Ansible
