Job description

Responsibilities

As a Sonographer, you will provide clinical ultrasound services according to practice standards and act as a resource to students, residents, fellows, and other technologists to ensure optimal department functions. You will administer sound patient‑care practices according to hospital and department policies and procedures to ensure the safety of patients. Your ability to complete ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations is essential. Demonstrating safety for patients, staff, and self as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines is of vital importance. Maintaining equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition is required.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Diploma from a certified school of Radiology.
  • Current RDMS license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Sonographer; acute care experience preferred.

Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, regulatory or accreditation requirements; effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to conduct basic arithmetic, compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense in carrying out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form; solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory bodies, e.g., the Joint Commission, American College of Radiology (ACR), and Title 22 standards and guidelines.
  • Demonstrates compliance with hospital policies and procedures at all times.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to relate to clinical personnel and medical staff, and to interact well with the public.
  • Knowledge of PC and applications.
