Job summary

The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) seeks an IT Intern to provide advanced technical support, resolve complex issues, and serve as escalation point for junior staff. You will work with hardware, software, and network systems, helping train and develop support processes.

Internship runs January–December 2027, up to 20 hours/week in school year and 40 hours/week in summer, in a hybrid office setting with potential remote days. Open to undergrad/grad students enrolled in a college or university.

Qualifications

• Majors: Computer Science or comparable
• Basic understanding of Windows11 (or Windows10/11)
• Understanding of Active Directory concepts (users, groups, lockouts)
• Comfortable navigating ticketing systems (ServiceNow experience is a plus)
• Basic troubleshooting mindset: reproduce issue → isolate cause → escalate if needed
• Written communication precision for non‑technical users
• Basic understanding of VDI concepts
• Exposure to scripting or automation for repetitive tasks
• Translate technical issues into plain language
• Document steps so another tech can pick up

Responsibilities

• Log incoming tickets in ServiceNow with complete detail
• Categorize and prioritize tickets based on issue type and urgency
• Check ServiceNow for duplicate or related tickets
• Provide first-level troubleshooting for hardware, software, and connectivity issues
• Reset passwords and unlock user accounts per security procedures
• Provision applications to users for VDI
• Assist with basic network connectivity issues (Wi‑Fi, VPN)
• Escalate unresolved issues to Level 2/3 with clear documentation
• Follow up with users to confirm resolution and close tickets
• Maintain and update knowledge base articles
• Provide friendly, clear communication to non-technical users
