Texas NeuroRehab Center is a specialized treatment facility located ten minutes from downtown Austin on 67 wooded acres. Originally a cattle ranch, the land was purchased in 1943 as part of The Brown Schools and has operated as a medical rehabilitation and behavioral healthcare facility for over 80 years. Today, Texas NeuroRehab Center provides complex medical and brain and spinal cord injury rehab for ages 13 years and older and neuropsychiatric treatment for youth. The capabilities of the facility as a whole allow for integrated and specialized care for children, adolescents and adults facing difficult challenges. Texas NeuroRehab Center is internationally known for improving the quality of life for many children; adolescents and adults, and it will continue to provide innovative approaches to neurobehavioral healthcare.

Texas NeuroRehab Center is currently accepting applicants for a Pharmacy Technician-Part-Time. This candidate will assist the pharmacists in the filling of medication orders as prescribed by physicians for patients of all ages. To maintain the pharmacy work area and pharmacy inventory. To deliver pharmaceuticals to the patient care unit. To assist with the required record keeping.

Qualifications

The following are the requirements for the Pharmacy Technician position.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities: Good verbal and written skills. Knowledge of basic computer keyboard with some familiarity with computer technology and programs. Able to maintain confidentiality of patient information. Good attention to detail. Able to concentrate on task for extended periods of time. Able to accurately enter data for six to seven hours daily.

Education: High school diploma or equivalency.

Licensure/Certifications: None required but must complete a facility approved Pharmacy Technician Education Program. Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred.

Experience: None required. One year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician or Medication Administration Technician is preferred.

Physical/General Requirements: Able to sustain physical activity for eight hours per day. Able to lift, lower, push, and pull 50 pounds (i.e. receiving, storing, and distributing medications and supplies). Able to stand, walk, and reach for 80-90% of the time (i.e. dispensing medications). Able to bend, stoop, and perform a full range of body motions. Able to use the telephone for extended period of time. Able to frequently use hands and fine motor skills (typing, preparing and dispensing medications, and equipment maintenance). Able to frequently write legibly, using grammatically correct structure (i.e. documenting and maintaining records, drug profiles, etc.). Able to use the computer for extended periods of time. Able to hear, verbally communicate/speak clearly, and vision sufficient to perform essential job functions. Emotional stability sufficient to perform essential job functions and deal with changing priorities. Regular and predictable attendance.
