Job Requirements The Patient Care Technician, working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and in compliance with the Maryland Board of Nursing-Nurse Practice Act, plays a vital role in delivering patient care through the execution of various clinical tasks. These responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, collecting specimens, assisting with patient positioning for procedures, and performing designated clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, fingersticks, and 12-lead EKGs. The technician is responsible for providing comfort measures, monitoring and documenting patient conditions, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining a clean and orderly environment. Additional duties encompass assisting with equipment operation, performing post-mortem care, initiating CPR when necessary, adhering strictly to infection control protocols, completing accurate documentation, and contributing to staff orientation and ongoing education. This full-time position demands a prompt and professional response to patient needs while upholding their dignity and privacy at all times.

Work Experience Education and experience requirements for the Tech Patient Care UN 3S position include a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), Maryland Nursing Assistant Certification, and completion of an approved training program such as a hospital-based program, community college, Emergency Medical Technician, or Medical Corpsmen. Equivalent on-the-job training may be accepted in place of formal training. A minimum of one year of recent direct patient care experience is preferred, along with current CPR certification. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in applying universal safety precautions, responding effectively in emergency situations, and possess comprehensive knowledge of patient care principles across all age groups.
