Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor patients and notify nursing staff of any lead/battery changes or rhythm changes.
  • Initiate a CODE for lethal dysrhythmia unless the patient is a DNR.
  • Document and print strips according to hospital policy.
  • Assist with elimination care.
  • Promptly provide, empty, and remove bedpans and urinals and assist patient to bedside commode or bathroom.
  • Provide incontinence care using appropriate products.
  • Accurately record intake/output and bowel movements; report frequency to nurse.
  • Conduct incontinence rounds as directed.
  • Turn and reposition patients every 2 hours.
  • Change bed linens as needed to maintain cleanliness and patient comfort.
  • Assist with routine AM/PM care including oral hygiene, dentures, grooming, and catheter care.
  • Feed patients with aspiration precautions observed.
  • Provide routine Chest PT and incentive spirometry under supervision of nurse.
  • Collect and/or transport specimens and blood products per hospital policy.
  • Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG) including correct patient identifiers.
  • Perform other job duties/assignments as needed.

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health opened its doors April 2025 as the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 25 years! Integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8, this enhanced integrated delivery system will establish a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. Our advanced hospital will offer 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, onsite 550-car parking garage, and a helipad for emergency transport.

We Are Seeking An Experienced Monitor Technician (Full-Time, Nights)

Our ideal candidate is reponsible for the continuous observation, interpretation, and documentation of patients' cardiac rhythms in an inpatient acute care hospital. This role involves operating telemetry monitoring systems, identifying and reporting dysrthymias, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Continuously monitor patients and immediately notifies the nursing station, charge nurse, or HOS change for battery or lead chance or change in baseline rhythm.
  • Initiate a CODE in an event of a lethal dysrhythmia unless the patient is a DNR.
  • Document and print strips according to policy.
  • Provide assistance with elimination care.
  • Promptly provide, empty, and remove bedpans, urinals upon request of the nurse or patient, and assist patient to bedside commode or bathroom.
  • Provide prompt incontinence care using correct products (peri-cleaner, barrier creams, ointments, or incontinence pads, etc...).
  • Accurately record intake and output and bowel movement; ask patient regarding frequency of bowel movement within 24 hours, report to nurse and document on graphic record.
  • Conduct incontinence rounds as directed.
  • Turning and reposition patients every 2 hours.
  • Maintain clean and tidy patient appearance by changing bed linens when soiled and upon patient request.
  • Perform or asset patient with complete, partial baths or showers as appropriate to patient safety and patient capabilities and progress patient self-care as directed by nurse.
  • Assist with all aspects of routine A.M. or P.M. care including oral hygiene, care of dentures, grooming of hair, shaving, peri- or Foley catheter care.
  • Feed patients as indicated, ensuring that aspiration precautions are observed (head of bed up, small amounts, ensure each spoonful is swallowed and not pocketed in mouth) and promptly notify nurse if aspiration is suspected.
  • Under the supervision of nurse provides routine Chest PT and incentive spirometry.
  • Collect and/or transport specimens and blood products as per hospital policy.
  • Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG) including using two or three identifiers as per hospital policy prior to providing treatment, collecting specimens, etc.
  • Perform other job duties/assignments as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Completion of a formal Monitor Technician or EKG Technician training program preferred
  • Prior experience in telemetry monitoring is advantageous
  • Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) OR Certified Cardiac Monitor Technician (CCMT) required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
