Job summary

Mesilla Valley Hospital is seeking a PRN Mental Health Technician to join our behavioral health team in Las Cruces, NM. You will interact therapeutically with patients, help maintain unit safety, and work closely with experienced MHTs and nurses under RN/therapist guidance.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, and while a bachelor’s in social services is a plus with some related experience, we value compassionate, team-oriented candidates.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in social services or related field with one year of behavioral health experience preferred.
• PRN position requires 12-hour shifts; four shifts per month, including one weekend.

Responsibilities

• Interact therapeutically with patients and help maintain safety and cleanliness of the unit.
• Collaborate with experienced MHTs and Nurses to provide a therapeutic milieu.
• Demonstrate training skills and be a role model for patients and staff.
• Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse/Therapist and support Service Excellence.

Mesilla Valley Hospital is currently seeking a PRN Mental Health Technician.

The MHT therapeutically interacts with the patient and assists in maintaining safety and cleanliness of the unit. Collaborates closely with the more experienced MHTs and Nurses to provide a therapeutic milieu under their guidance. MHTs are expected to use training skills consistently. The MHT functions as an active part of the treatment team, they are role models to patients and other MHT. The MHT work’s under the direction of a Registered Nurse/Therapist. MHT demonstrate commitment to Service Excellence program.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Degree/GED required

Experience:

One year of work experience in a behavioral health facility, or bachelor' s degree in social services or related field, plus one year of work experience in behavioral health service or delivery preferred.

WORK HOURS: 12 hour shifts available. PRN employees must work four shifts per month, one shift must include a weekend.
