Job summary

Google is seeking a Tech Lead for YouTube Shorts Discovery in Mountain View, CA. You will guide the Shorts ecosystem, from mobile creation tools to the full-screen player experience, and oversee backend systems for recommendation across Home, Search, and beyond.

You will lead the Short-form Video Exploration team, driving the success of YouTube Shorts as a top strategic initiative, leveraging advanced modeling and signals to expand the audience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience is required.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• 5 years of experience with one or more ML domains (speech/audio, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or related).
• 5 years of experience with ML design and ML infrastructure (model deployment, evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large scale software solutions.
• Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects; manage priorities, deadlines, deliverables.
• Facilitate alignment across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines; coach a distributed team of engineers.
• Lead design and implementation of ML-focused solutions, optimize ML infrastructure, and guide model development.”
