Job summary

Watu is seeking a Tech Lead for Messaging Experience Engineering. You will own the technical architecture for messaging dispatch and conversational orchestration, driving high-volume, low-latency delivery across markets with an emphasis on vendor governance and internal flow logic.

You will manage 3–5 direct reports (Backend/Frontend/MQA) and partner with Product Ownership to balance What, How, and When. This role requires hands-on leadership and strong backend engineering skills in a fintech

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience in a senior/lead role.
• Experience owning architecture for a product area or team.
• Proven ability to review and reason about code across the full stack.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical architecture for the squad's domain, including API contracts and data models.
• Define and enforce coding standards, review PRs, and maintain DoD for quality.
• Lead sprint planning with Product Owner and unblock engineers when needed.
• Manage delivery and release processes, including work with external partners.
