Job summary

Pyramid Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Tech Lead – Java (AWS) for a 6+ month onsite contract in Irving, TX. You will own the architecture and technical roadmap for Java services on AWS, designing scalable microservices and secure APIs.

The role requires 10+ years of software engineering, 7+ years Java backend, and strong leadership. You will drive CI/CD, IaC, and guide engineers through Agile delivery.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 7+ years building backend systems in Java.
• 2 years of people-management experience.
• Experience with AWS (ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB).
• Strong microservices and distributed systems design.
• Hands-on with CI/CD and containers.
• AWS certification preferred.
• Retail/e-commerce/payments exposure.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and roadmap for Java services on AWS.
• Design scalable, secure microservices and APIs.
• Lead design reviews and enforce code quality.
• Make AWS architecture decisions balancing reliability and cost.
• Drive CI/CD, IaC, and observability.
• Mentor engineers and manage performance.
• Collaborate with product, security, and stakeholders.
• Lead Agile/Scrum delivery including sprint planning.
