Job summary

Universal Orlando Resort is seeking an Audio Technician to support the operation of audio elements for assigned Entertainment venues, projects, or events. The role focuses on ensuring high show quality and guest experience, including operation of digital audio consoles and monitoring systems.

Applicants should have at least 2 years of related technical experience and a foundation in low‑voltage wiring, audio connectors, and mic placement techniques.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience within the assigned technical discipline.
  • Fundamental knowledge of basic low-voltage wiring, standard audio connectors, basic console signal flow/operation, basic microphone placement/technique, and computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Prior experience within the professional theme park/theater industry in a technical capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • QSYS Level I
  • Dante Level I

Responsibilities

  • Operate the audio equipment within the assigned venue, project, or event, including digital audio console operation for small to mid-sized shows with monitors and tracked performances.
  • Assist in installation/setup, strike, storage, and maintenance of audio equipment and elevate technical problems to Lead.
  • Take direction from Lead to complete team objectives and maintain venue/event-specific audio equipment inventory.
  • Communicate internally regarding technical problems, issues, and concerns.
  • Follow Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities per Universal Orlando policy and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

Provides the technical skills needed for the successful operation of audio elements for assigned Entertainment venue, project, or event, to ensure highest levels of show quality and a positive guest experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the operation of the audio equipment within the assigned venue, project, or event. To include operation of digital audio console and equipment for a small/medium live show or event with monitors and tracked performances.
  • Responsible for assisting in the appropriate installation/setup, strike, storage, and maintenance of audio equipment. Elevates any technical problems or concerns to Lead as they occur.
  • Takes direction from Lead to complete team objectives as assigned, such as assembly/testing/prepping of audio equipment. Maintains venue or event specific inventory of all audio equipment.
  • Communicates internally regarding technical problems, issues, and/or concerns.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
  • Technical school, Associate degree, or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Required
  • Knowledge of basic low voltage wiring, standard audio connectors, basic console signal flow/operation, basic system signal flow/set-up, and knowledge of basic mic placement techniques.
Preferred
  • Knowledge of Digital audio console (Yamaha CL series, QL series, Digico SD9, SD10, Midas M32).
  • Knowledge of the proper usage of professional wireless microphones (Shure, Sennheiser, etc.).
