Job summary

Universal Orlando Resort is seeking a disciplined crew chief for entertainment venues/events to ensure show quality and guest satisfaction. You will supervise live sound and video elements, enforce safety, and coordinate with management and staff to maintain operational equipment.

Applicants should have 1-3 years in the technical field, and experience in theme park/theater environments is preferred. A valid Florida driver’s license and forklift/repair skills are advantageous.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years’ experience within the assigned technical discipline.
  • Prior experience in professional theme park/theater industry in a technical capacity preferred.
  • Emergency Repair, Parts Assembly, and Forklift Operations experience preferred.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Use venue equipment and technical knowledge to ensure show quality and safe operation of live shows or events with multiple sound or video elements.
  • Assists Tech I with/or complete daily maintenance of the Entertainment Venue/Event to ensure all Technical equipment is operational.
  • Responsible for effectively communicating necessary information pertaining to the technical operation to management and staff.
  • Participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following policy and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the highly skilled, discipline specific, technical operations within an assigned Entertainment venue or event to ensure show quality and a positive guest experience.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Functions as the discipline specific crew chief assigned to an Entertainment Venue or Event. Safe watch employees by assisting to manage proper breaks and ensure lunches are taken by their perspective crews. Responsible to monitor and enforce all policies and procedures as defined by the Entertainment Department governing the safe operation of all technical equipment.

  • Use venue equipment and technical knowledge to ensure show quality and safe operation of live shows or events with multiple sound or video elements. Help to troubleshoot any problems that arise with technical elements

  • Assists Tech I with/or complete daily maintenance of the Entertainment Venue/Event in order to ensure all Technical equipment is operational and functioning properly. Help ensure completion of assigned work tasks for crew.

  • Responsible for effectively communicating necessary information, which pertains to the technical operation of the assigned entertainment venue/event, to both upper management as well as employees of the venue/event.

  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


SCOPE:

Semi-routine following standard operating procedures. Position requires the tracking of assigned inventory and elements. There is daily use of live sound reinforcement and technical knowledge.


EXPERIENCE:


  • 1-3 years’ experience within the assigned technical discipline required.

  • Prior experience within the professional theme park/theater industry in a technical capacity (electrical, mechanical, special effects, pyrotechnics, audio/visual) preferred.

  • Emergency Repair, Parts Assembly, and Forklift Operations experience preferred.

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:


  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required to operate company vehicles.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:


  • Knowledge of current live sound reinforcement and entertainment technical equipment, problem solving skills, quick decision-making skills, multi-tasking, communication skills.
