Job summary

Universal Orlando Resort is seeking a Video Operator to manage live show camera operation, signal flow, and the operation of projectors, LED walls, and video systems for assigned venues and events.

The role involves working with a team, maintaining equipment inventories, and communicating technical information to show management and crew while adhering to safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience within the assigned technical discipline.
  • Proficient knowledge of live show camera operation, signal flow, installing and operating projectors, LED walls, and video systems, and computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Function as the video operator for an assigned Entertainment venue, project, and/or event.
  • Function as crew member in the installation/setup, storage, strike, and maintenance of video equipment and escalate issues.
  • Facilitate and troubleshoot with accountability for completion of team objectives from leads/supervisor.
  • Maintains venue or event specific inventory of all audio equipment.
  • Communicate pertinent information related to technical operation to other disciplines and team members.
  • Adhere to Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities as defined by UO policy and training.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides the highly skilled, discipline specific technical skills needed for the successful operation and maintenance of video elements for assigned Entertainment venues, projects, or events, to ensure highest levels of show quality and a positive guest experience. Can often work independently and report to a Lead or above.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Function as the video operator for an assigned Entertainment venue, project, and/or event. To include the operation of video equipment for a live show or event, play back of presentation, and camera signal flow for small events.
  • Function as crew member in the appropriate installation/setup, storage, strike, and maintenance of video equipment. Elevates any technical problems or concerns to Lead Tech or above and/or management as they occur.
  • Facilitate and troubleshoot with accountability for completion of team objectives from leads/supervisor. Expected to accomplish tasks as directed that supports the team mission with little supervision after direction is given.
  • Maintains venue or event specific inventory of all audio equipment.
  • Responsible for effectively communicating pertinent information, both written and verbal, which pertains to the technical operation of the assigned entertainment venue/event, to other disciplines, entertainment tech management, and team members of the venue/event.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:

Technical school, Associate degree, or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience within the assigned technical discipline.
  • Proficient knowledge of live show camera operation, signal flow, installing and operating projectors, LED walls, and video systems, and computer skills including Microsoft office.

Preferred:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience within the assigned technical discipline.
  • Prior experience within the professional theme park/theater industry in a technical capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of assisting on video production shoots and ability to lead others
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • Accountable to strictly adhere to all policies and procedures, as defined by the Entertainment Department, governing the safe operation of all technical equipment.
  • As directed, may assist in technical training and implementation of all training materials. Maintains and shares job knowledge and assists in developing Team Members
