CookUnity is a chef-to-consumer meal delivery platform. This role leads the Tech Enablement team within B2B Operations, overseeing technology that supports internal tools, automations, integrations, and a Smart Fridges IoT fleet. You will manage an engineer, work hands-on on embedded Linux and hardware challenges, and collaborate across product, engineering, operations, and business teams to scale the company's internal infrastructure and connected device ecosystem.
What You'll Do
- Manage, coach, and develop a Tech Enablement Engineer; own intake, roadmap, delivery, and stakeholder communication
- Design and deliver workflow automations using low-code platforms (n8n) and custom software; ensure monitoring, failure handling, and operational ownership
- Guide development of internal web and mobile tools, dashboards, and services for Operations, Healthcare, Customer Experience, Sales, and Smart Fridges teams
- Lead technical direction for Smart Fridges hardware and embedded Linux software; work on compute devices, locks, sensors, cameras, connectivity, and edge computer vision
- Scale fleet operations from hand-configured deployments to reproducible imaging, remote software updates, staged releases, rollback, and central health monitoring across hundreds of devices
- Design reliable production workflows integrating third-party platforms (Salesforce, logistics, healthcare) via APIs, webhooks, and scheduled jobs with proper retry, idempotency, and monitoring
- Partner with Security, Legal, and Infrastructure on access controls, secrets management, and operational readiness for customer and healthcare data
- Maintain architecture documentation, device build procedures, deployment runbooks, and operational playbooks; decide which prototypes to productize or retire
- Evaluate and scale AI tools in B2B operations and engineering workflows with focus on reliability, data protection, and measurable business impact
What You Need
- Experience managing engineers, including coaching, feedback, prioritization, and accountability for delivery
- Strong hands-on software engineering experience across backend services, integrations, and internal applications; proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript or Python and working knowledge of SQL
- Hands-on experience building and operating physical IoT devices with embedded Linux in the field; ability to diagnose issues across device hardware, sensors, connectivity, OS services, and cloud systems
- Demonstrated experience scaling a device fleet beyond hand-configured deployments, including reproducible provisioning, remote software updates, staged releases, rollback, telemetry, security, and field support
- Experience designing reliable production workflows using APIs, webhooks, scheduled jobs, and third-party systems, including retries, idempotency, monitoring, and data reconciliation
- Experience with cloud deployment, CI/CD, access management, and incident response for business-critical systems
- Sound judgment about security and privacy; ability to identify when to involve specialist reviewers for sensitive customer or healthcare data
- Ability to translate ambiguous operational needs into priorities, technical plans, and clear decisions with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken) for collaboration across teams and regions
- Support for 24/7 uptime and on-call rotation to keep the business operational
Nice to Have
- Experience with Raspberry Pi or similar edge devices, and with AWS IoT Greengrass, SSM, MQTT, or comparable fleet-management tools
- Experience with camera pipelines, computer vision at the edge, hardware manufacturing, or device quality assurance
- Experience with n8n or similar automation platforms and with Salesforce or other CRM integrations
- Experience building internal applications with React/Next.js and Node.js or Python, and deploying them on cloud platforms
- Familiarity with healthcare operations or workflows involving PHI-sensitive data
- Experience with customer support, marketing, or logistics tools and their APIs
- Experience applying AI tools to operational workflows while checking output quality, privacy, and business impact
- Comfort leading a small team across software, hardware, vendors, and business stakeholders in a fast-moving environment
