Job summary

Universal Health Services’ Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Echo Technician - Echocardiology (Per-Diem/PRN) to perform diagnostic echocardiograms and related non-invasive cardiac tests, including stress tests and ECGs, and to prepare accurate reports for the medical team.

The position requires completion of a formal cardiac sonography program, a high school diploma, and preferably RDCS certification, with at least two years of cardiac sonography

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Formal training in diagnostic cardiac sonography.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer certificate preferred.
  • Two years of recent cardiac sonography experience or comparable training/experience.

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of growth and development over the life span to provide age appropriate care.
  • Perform patient teaching related to non-invasive testing, explaining procedures prior to performing, and documents in the records as appropriate.
  • Provide service in a competent, caring, and efficient manner.
  • Obtain vital signs as needed, record in the patient record, and report abnormal findings to physician.
  • Perform Echocardiograms correctly to ensure accurate diagnosis by the physicians.
  • Perform Stress, Nuclear Stress tests and assisting in the Stress Echocardiograms.
  • Operate and maintain patient care equipment in accordance with established safety guidelines.
  • Check defibrillator on a daily basis and maintain logbook.
  • Chance Cidex solution (for cleaning the TEE probes) as needed or every other week.
  • Check the refrigerator temperature every morning and maintain log book.
  • Perform other job duties/assignments as assigned.

Responsibilities

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health opened its doors in April 2025 as the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 25 years! Integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC's), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8, this enhanced integrated delivery system will establish a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. Our advanced hospital will offer 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, onsite 550-car parking garage, and a helipad for emergency transport.

We are seeking an experienced Echo Technician - Echocardiology(Per-Diem/PRN)

Our ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting diagnostic echo-cardiograms, which involves using ultrasound technology to create images of the heart. The Echo Technician may also be responsible for conducting other non-invasive cardiac tests. This includes stress tests, which evaluate how the heart performs under physical exertion, and electrocardiograms, which measure the electrical activity of the heart. This role includes not only performing the echocardiograms but also ensuring that all necessary reports are accurately completed. The Echo Technician will analyze the results and summarize findings for the medical team.
