Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools is seeking a Math Teacher to join our district. The position is 9 months (187 days) and reports to the Principal, with salary on the Certified Schedule 16 (Level 1-4).

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Must hold a valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate.
  • Must meet Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements or be willing to meet them.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize technology to plan and provide instruction and facilitate student learning.
  • Model appropriate and innovative use of technology for students.
  • Facilitate and monitor the integration of technology in the classroom.
  • Provide modifications for students with special needs, including exceptional education students and students who have limited proficiency in English as required.
  • Select, develop, modify and/or adapt materials and resources which support learning objectives and address students' varying learning styles and backgrounds.
  • Establish routines and uses appropriate behavior management procedures.
  • Participate in administration of local and state testing as assigned.
  • Use formative and summative assessment to monitor student progress; interprets and uses data for instructional planning and program evaluation.
  • Communicate high learning expectations for all students and establishes learning targets that are relative to real world experiences.
  • Use appropriate techniques and strategies to enhance the application of critical, creative and evaluative thinking capabilities of students.
  • Provide instruction on safety procedures and proper handling of materials and equipment.
  • Foster student responsibility, appropriate social behavior, integrity, valuing of cultural diversity, and respect for self and others through role modeling and learning activities.
  • Supervise and/or assist with extracurricular and co-curricular activities as assigned.
  • Support school improvement initiatives through active participation in school activities, events, and programs.
  • Engage in personal professional growth, adheres to professional standards, and demonstrates professional ethics, sound judgment, and leadership.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding /student/school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
  • Demonstrate initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain and submit required reports, records, and correspondence accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system.
  • Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
  • Report absences and take leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures; prepares for substitutes according to Board policies and school procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education
