Job summary

Sierra Medical Center, part of Northern Nevada Health System, provides indirect patient care under the supervision of the Critical Care RN. You will monitor cardiac rhythms, assist with patient care, and ensure supplies and carts are restocked daily. You’ll coordinate clerical tasks, transcribe orders, and support communication with patient families.

The role emphasizes regulatory compliance and participation in performance improvement activities within a busy hospital department.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Current CNA certification in Nevada required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Advanced cardiac rhythm competency within 6 months of hire.
  • Completion of Healthstream ECG & Dysrhythmia Monitoring within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provides indirect patient care and assigned tasks under the supervision of the Critical Care RN.
  • Monitors cardiac rhythms via telemetry; notifies RN of changes and obtains ECG tracings during emergencies.
  • Assists RN with patient care, restocks supplies, and maintains stocked rooms and carts daily.
  • Transcribes physician orders and coordinates clerical functions; communicates with patient families.

Job summary:

Provides indirect patient care and assigned tasks in the department setting under the direct supervision of the Critical Care RN. Monitors cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac screen or telemetry monitors, notifies RN of any changes and ensures all ECG tracings are obtained from the central monitoring station during patient emergencies. Assists RN with patient care needs. Orders and restocks unit supplies, ensures all patient rooms are fully stocked daily and all procedure carts are restocked daily. Meets communication needs of the department. Transcribes physician orders from records with notation and signatures by nursing staff. Coordinates clerical functions and interacts with patient families. Prepares and compiles records in the department. Maintains regulatory body requirements, policies and procedures and participates in performance improvement activities.


Job Duties/Responsibilities


  • Answers the telephone and intercom in a timely and polite manner. Takes message accurately and forwards information immediately.

  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families

  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety, infection control and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors

  • Monitors ECG signals at the central monitoring station, notifies RN immediately about sysrhythmias to the primary or charge RN
