Job summary

The Valley Health System in Ridgewood, NJ seeks a phlebotomist to perform blood collection for outreach and hospital patients, including travel to nursing homes. You will accession and process specimens, register patients, and respond to client inquiries regarding test status and results.

Required is a high school diploma and at least 1 year of phlebotomy experience with excellent customer service and communication skills. ASCP certification preferred; valid NJ driver’s license may be needed.

Experience

A minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience required. Experience drawing blood from the elderly, Alzheimers patients, psychiatric patients and other patients who have difficult veins. Strong customer service skills required.

Special Skills

Excellent phlebotomy skills. ASCP certified preferred. Ability to set priorities, multi-task and be detail oriented. Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact with patients, staff, physician offices, etc. Excellent organizational and problem solving skills. Good typing skills. Outreach: May be required to drive personal vehicle as needed. Driver's License - current and valid New Jersey driver's license. Employees must adhere to all procedural guidelines in HR Policy 1-13 including demonstrating an acceptable driving record for the duration of their employment as long as driving continues to be a responsibility of the job.
