Job summary

Worky seeks a Director of Software Engineering & Architecture to own the technical direction and delivery as they migrate from a monolithic React/Node/Postgres stack to a microservices architecture on AWS. This hands-on leadership role will shape the architecture, help grow an onshore team, and align security with healthcare data requirements.

You will mentor offshore engineers, partner with the CTO and Product, and drive delivery commitments while maintaining code quality and operational

Qualifications

8+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in a leadership or architecture role.
Experience migrating from monolith to microservices in production systems.
Strong AWS knowledge and cloud-native architecture experience.
Solid understanding of security and compliance for healthcare data (HIPAA, SOC 2).
Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical details to business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Own system architecture (application, data, infrastructure) and the engineering roadmap with CTO and Product Leadership.
Lead re-architecture from monolith to microservices with risk-aware sequencing.
Define and enforce engineering standards (code quality, API design, testing, CI/CD, documentation).
Ensure delivery predictability and manage cross-team dependencies and blockers.
