Job summary

Lightpath is seeking a Tech Adv – Installation to install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain advanced optical networks at customer sites, data centers, and central offices. The role requires hands-on work with 1GIG/10G NIDs, Cisco MPLS, and Ciena 6500 systems, with OTDR testing and fiber characterization to ensure high reliability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in installation, provisioning and repairing telecommunications equipment.
• Thorough understanding of network installation phases including Ethernet, DWDM, CWDM, WAN/LAN and TCP/IP.
• Hands-on experience with Ciena 6500 series provisioning, alarms and optical power management.
• Proficient with OTDRs and related testing/reporting tools.
• Strong knowledge of DWDM systems, optical theory and fiber characterization.
• HS Diploma or equivalent; valid state driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, configure, and install components supporting Ethernet, DWDM, CWDM, and ROADM technologies.
• Travel to remote customer sites and data centers for installation and troubleshooting.
• Conduct fiber testing with OTDR, power meter/light source, and loss measurements.
• Analyze OTDR traces to locate faults and anomalies; verify network performance.
• Install and route fiber and copper cabling with quality and bend-radius compliance.
• Execute testing procedures to meet Lightpath standards and service levels.
