Job summary

BorgWarner Turbo Systems LLC, Ithaca Plant, is seeking a Metal Finisher/Handler for Plant 2 (TC) on the 3rd shift. You will load, finish, and inspect metal components to specification, and maintain processing reports.

The role requires operating finishing equipment, using gauges and PC interfaces, performing SPC steps, and ensuring safety and neat work areas with heavy physical exertion. Prior manual machining or finishing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Receive and follow supervisor instructions to meet manufacturing specifications.
• Must use semi-complicated gauging equipment and operate computer interfaces with graphic displays.
• Must perform math with decimals and complete SPC requirements.

GENERAL PURPOSE :

Process metal components to specifications (e.g., clean, deburr, polish, strengthen, finish to size).

GENERAL DUTIES :

Load, unload, set-up operate, monitor various metal processing and finishing equipment. (i.e., lorcos, washers, Jensen Dryers, shot peens, harperizers, swecos, molycote tumbler, Saturn 2900, etc.).

Maintain accurate processing reports. Transport material to and from designated areas.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS :

Receive instructions from Supervisors, follows routing tickets and implement manufacturing specifications. Transports material with use of appropriate equipment (i.e., fork trucks, hand trucks, hand carts, elect hoists). Uses semi-complicated gauging equipment and computer operated interface panels with graphic displays. Completes SPC requirements. The incumbent is required to disassemble/reassemble specific parts on equipment. Mathematical computations involving decimals. Routine decisions based on specific criteria to meet manufacturing standards, interpersonal relations require explanation and/or interpretation of information. Performs work in accordance with a wide range of safety procedures. Heavy physical exertion is required.

Incumbent will maintain work areas in a neat and orderly fashion.
