Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while providing legendary customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
2. Work scheduled shifts with varied hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
3. Support selling initiatives by thanking customers, engaging with them and their pets, advising on products or services, and making their experience memorable.
4. Perform duties such as operating cash registers, merchandise recovery, participating in freight processing, completing merchandising procedures, assembling merchandise, performing janitorial duties, executing price changes, assisting with loading purchases, and caring for live animals.
5. Complete all related documentation accurately.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• No prior experience required; retail and pet knowledge preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of pets and live animals is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and ethical issue resolution.

Working Conditions

• Indoor environment with moderate noise levels.
• Hard surfaces in store and outdoor areas; adequate lighting and temperature.
• Shifts typically range from 4 to over 8 hours.
• Maintain a safe environment following safety guidelines.

Physical Requirements

• Non-sedentary role requiring movement throughout the store and outdoor areas.
• Ability to lift or reach merchandise overhead and move merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, climb ladders, and operate store equipment.
• Ability to complete training and certification requirements.
