Overall Job Summary

This position involves interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while delivering legendary customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

As a Team Member, you should be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented. You will be expected to:

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Work scheduled shifts, including varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Support selling initiatives by:
• Thanking customers
• Engaging with customers and pets
• Advising on products or services
• Making interactions memorable
• Perform a variety of duties during 95% of your workday, including:
• Operating cash registers and following cash handling procedures
• Merchandise recovery and assembly
• Participating in freight and merchandising resets
• Performing janitorial duties and price changes
• Assisting customers with loading and caring for live animals
• Completing all related documentation
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Experience: No prior experience required; retail or pet/live animal knowledge is preferred.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. Ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities

• Pet/live animal, pet food, and pet product knowledge
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Basic computer skills
• Interpersonal skills and ethical issue resolution

Working Conditions

• Indoor environment with moderate noise
• Hard surfaces like concrete or asphalt; adequate lighting and temperature
• Shifts generally range from 4 to over 8 hours
• Promote safety and adhere to safety guidelines

Physical Requirements

• Non-sedentary role requiring mobility throughout the store and outdoors
• Ability to lift or reach overhead, stand, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders
• Ability to operate equipment and process transactions accurately
• Ability to move merchandise and live animals weighing up to 50 pounds
