Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while providing legendary customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

As a Team Member, it is essential that you be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented, as you must be able to fulfill all of the following requirements:

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Work scheduled shifts and have the ability to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs.
• Support selling initiatives (TEAM):
  • Thank the Customer
  • Engage with the customer and/or pet
  • Advise on products or services
  • Make it Memorable
• Perform a combination of duties during 95% of the day, including operating cash registers, merchandise recovery, participating in freight processes, completing Plan-o-gram procedures, assembling merchandise, performing janitorial duties, executing price changes/markdowns, assisting customers with loading, ensuring the safety and well-being of live animals, and completing related documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• No experience required; retail or pet/live animal knowledge is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required. Must be able to read, write, and count accurately.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities

• Pet/live animal, pet food, and pet product knowledge preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.

Working Conditions

• Primarily indoor environment with moderate noise.
• Work shifts vary, generally no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours.
• Maintain a safe and productive environment following safety guidelines.

Physical Requirements

• Non-sedentary role; ability to move throughout the store and outdoor areas quickly and safely.
• Ability to lift or reach merchandise overhead, move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds, and perform various physical activities such as standing, kneeling, twisting, and climbing ladders.
• Operate store equipment safely and accurately.
