Overall Job Summary:
This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while providing legendary customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

As a Team Member, it is essential that you be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented, capable of fulfilling the following requirements:

1. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
2. Work scheduled shifts, including varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
3. Support selling initiatives (TEAM):
   1. Thank the Customer
   2. Engage with the customer and/or pet
   3. Advise on products or services
   4. Make it Memorable
4. Perform a variety of duties during 95% of the workday, including:
   1. Operate cash register/computer following established cash handling procedures
   2. Recover merchandise
   3. Participate in freight processing
   4. Complete Plan-o-gram procedures (merchandising, sets, resets)
   5. Assemble merchandise
   6. Perform janitorial duties
   7. Execute price changes/markdowns
   8. Assist customers with loading purchases
   9. Ensure the safety and well-being of live animals, including sanitizing tanks and caring for animals as required
   10. Complete all documentation related to these duties
5. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: No experience required; retail and/or pet/live animal knowledge preferred.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential regardless of education level.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

• Pet/live animal, pet food, and pet product knowledge preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.

Working Conditions

• Generally indoor environment with moderate noise.
• Hard surfaces like concrete and asphalt; adequate lighting and temperature.
• Shifts typically no less than 4 hours, possibly exceeding 8 hours.
• Promote a safe, productive environment following safety guidelines.

Physical Requirements

• Non-sedentary role requiring physical stamina to move throughout the store and outdoors.
• Operate store equipment safely and efficiently.
• Occasionally lift or reach overhead.
• Stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders frequently.
• Move throughout the store for entire shifts.
• Access all store areas safely.
• Operate POS systems and other equipment.
• Read, write, and count accurately for documentation.
• Transfer merchandise and live animals weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Complete required training and certification.
