Job Responsibilities:
- Perform daily tasks in the work area as part of the team, including being an on-the-floor participant with associates, covering for unplanned absences and vacations, and understanding all department reports and procedures.
- Coordinate breaks, lunch schedules, and oversee equipment maintenance, PMs, and work orders.
- Assist managers with scheduling, understand production processes, and ensure department requirements are met.
- Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), promote quality and food safety standards, and serve as a role model for associates.
- Plan and conduct job skill training, including writing Skill Breakdown Sheets (SBSs) and conducting Job Instruction Training (JIT).
- Lead and drive plant operation improvements, analyze KPIs and data, and perform duties of the Department Manager/Assistant in their absence.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Ability to learn all department positions, understand plant policies, and follow through on assignments.
- Obtain forklift license and operate a forklift.
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds, climb ladders, and use industrial chemicals.
- Willingness to travel for training.
- High level of maturity, discretion, and judgment.
- Good computer skills, including MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Thorough knowledge of GMPs and basic mechanical skills.
- Demonstrate safe working habits, leadership skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good human relations skills, flexibility to work any shift, and excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Effective communication, basic math skills, enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work, with a commitment to Publix's mission.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some college coursework in Business, Engineering, or Food Science.
- Relevant department experience related to this position.
