Job summary

Arise Financial is seeking a Loss Mitigation Team Leader to guide the daily operations of a specialist team handling complex delinquent accounts, including bankruptcies, foreclosures, and loan modifications. You will coach staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive efficient, accurate workflows to improve member outcomes.

The role requires deep knowledge of consumer and real estate lending products, a track record in collections, and strong leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous leadership, team lead, mentoring, or supervisory experience required.
  • Experience in collections, recoveries, bankruptcy, repossessions, loss mitigation, foreclosures, or related lending operations.
  • Strong knowledge of collections practices, delinquency management, bankruptcy, foreclosure processes, and applicable regulations, including FDCPA and state requirements.
  • Experience managing complex member accounts and resolving escalated situations using sound judgment and decision-making.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach employees, collaborate across departments, and provide exceptional member service.
  • Demonstrated commitment to regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operations of the Loss Mitigation team, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant handling of complex delinquent accounts.
  • Coach, mentor, and support team members by answering operational questions, resolving complex issues, and promoting consistent procedures and service standards.
  • Monitor team performance, productivity, and quality, providing feedback, identifying development opportunities, and supporting employee growth.
  • Serve as the department's subject matter expert on consumer and real estate loan products, including credit cards, auto loans, unsecured loans, mortgages, and leases.
  • Oversee all aspects of the repossession process, including vendor management, documentation, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage complex bankruptcy cases by reviewing documentation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing guidance to the team.
  • Evaluate loan modification requests by reviewing financial information, applying program guidelines, and ensuring complete documentation and timely decisions.
  • Assist with the preparation, review, and quality control of investor and regulatory reporting, including Fannie Mae, FHLB, and other required reports.
  • Oversee the preparation and transmission of monthly recovery files to third-party agencies, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Support continuous process improvements while maintaining compliance with applicable laws, investor requirements, and Credit Union policies.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

About the Role

As the Loss Mitigation Team Leader, you will lead the day-to-day operations of our Loss Mitigation team, overseeing complex delinquent accounts involving bankruptcy, foreclosure, loan modifications, repossessions, and recoveries. You'll serve as a subject matter expert while coaching team members, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and positive member outcomes. This role is ideal for an experienced collections professional who enjoys developing others while solving complex lending challenges.


What You'll Do

In alignment with our commitment to pay transparency, we're pleased to share that the base range for this position is $65,952 - $72,397 per year, excluding fringe benefits or potential incentives. If you're hired, your final base pay will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and experience. We also take pay equity seriously and consider the internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
