Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is a Fortune 500 company guiding efficient procurement and operations. We seek a procurement professional to review requisitions, analyze proposals, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships across MRO, services, and raw materials.

You will coordinate with transportation, schedule chemical usage, oversee inventories, and support month-end reporting while maintaining cost controls and quality.

Qualifications

• BS degree in business, engineering, or supply management related major and five years’ experience in purchasing or related field.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to plan and execute and negotiate large-volume procurement contracts.
• Professional certification or ability to attain.

Responsibilities

• Review and process requisitions, obtain quotations, and conduct analysis of proposals.
• Conduct negotiations, maintain knowledge of and select vendors, develop and implement blanket orders and contracts.
• Monitor vendor total quality and determine appropriate inventories for optimum total costs in MRO, services and/or raw materials.
• Coordinate with transportation NS to establish routes, schedule car orders, and manage chemical orders and usage in the mill.
• Perform month-end inventory and submit reports to accounting; back-up to other procurement duties as required.

Principle Responsibilities:

Responsible for reviewing and processing requisitions, obtaining quotations, conducting analysis of proposals, conducting negotiations, maintaining knowledge of and selecting vendors, developing and implementing blanket orders and contracts, monitoring vendor total quality, and determining appropriate inventories to assure optimum total costs in the MRO, Services and/or Raw Materials area. Responsible for reconciliation of related Accounts Payable issues. Responsible for managing and ordering chemicals for the mill, Manage/prepare usage schedules for various chemicals utilizing in the mill, Manage/maintain chemical hose inventory and acid filters, Work with corporate transportation Northfork Southern, NS to establish new routes, Coordinate with NS to order cars and discuss issues, Manage ordering cars for tall oil and turpentine cars, Conduct month end inventory and submit report to accounting; Serves as back-up to other department positions and may be assigned supervisory or additional procurement duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

BS degree in business, engineering, or supply management related major plus five years’ experience in purchasing or related field; good communication and organizational skills. Ability to plan and execute. Experience in negotiations of large volume procurement contracts. Professional certification or ability to attain. Computer skills a must.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• Starting salary range for position: $86,400 - $108,000.
• Paid Vacation: Three (3) weeks per calendar year. Pro-rata Vacation during the initial year of hire based upon start date within the calendar year.
• Paid Holidays.
• Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages -- medical, dental, and vision – and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
• Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
