Team Leader, Absence Claims Management (Insurance)

Overview

Apply for a Fully Remote position based in the United States. The Team Leader in Absence Claims Management leads a team of Absence Management Case Managers to achieve results within their team and the organization. You will support team members, guide goal achievement, provide progress updates, and ensure standards are met. Additionally, you will assist with staff career development, promote candid communication, and partner with internal cross-functional areas for program direction, goal setting, and service delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Validate accurate adjudication of all FML, STD, State, and PFL claims according to plan provisions and guidelines.
  • Manage claim administration procedures, quality control, and complex customer issues.
  • Partner with leadership to develop and communicate team objectives and performance goals.
  • Lead performance management, including coaching and performance improvement plans.
  • Support employee development and career growth.
  • Collaborate with internal business partners across various departments.
  • Create and act on employee engagement survey results.
  • Analyze team productivity reports to identify trends and training needs.
  • Review and improve processes and reports regularly.
  • Maintain relationships with clients and address service issues.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support claims initiatives and lead change management efforts.
  • Facilitate team meetings and individual check-ins.
  • Mentor and develop team talent, including training resource coordination.
  • Review QA/CMA assessments for training opportunities.
  • Use data analytics to enhance business processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in disability work.
  • At least 3 years of disability claims experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills over 3+ years.
  • Extensive knowledge of disability products, rules, and regulations.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Additional Details

This is a remote position, with a preference for candidates near a Guardian office. Salary range: $57,330 - $94,185, commensurate with experience.
